WATCHES/WARNINGS IN EFFECT FOR COASTAL BRITISH COLUMBIA…
SNOWFALL WARNING FOR:
=NEW= NORTH COAST – INLAND SECTIONS.
Total snowfall accumulations of 25 cm or more through Sunday.
THIS IS A WARNING THAT SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED OR OCCURRING IN THESE REGIONS. MONITOR WEATHER CONDITIONS.. LISTEN FOR UPDATED STATEMENTS.
An intense Pacific frontal system will reach the North Coast today and will be affecting the area until Sunday night. The system will be bringing abundant moisture. Given cold air in the inland valleys, this will result in abundant snowfall. We do expect a changeover to rain in the Terrace to Kitimat area by Sunday afternoon. However we expect that Stewart will see only snow, and will receive the highest amounts, likely over 30 cm in total. There is a chance of freezing rain as well, during the forecast changeover to rain, mainly in the Terrace to Kitimat corridor, but even Terrace is likely to see accumulations of close to 25 cm.
